On October 27, 2025 Dr Dora Szymanowicz, OD is opening the doors of Sierra Vision Care inside the Chico, CA Costco.
Dr Parker, who was the optometrist at this location for 23 years, is retiring on Friday October 24. He is considering to return part time sometime mid-2026.
The office is getting a makeover and some upgrade. We are also going to take vision insurance! We are planning to accept VSP, Eyemed, Spectera and Davis!

Optomap is an advanced type of retinal imaging technology that captures a wide-field (ultra-widefield) image of the back of the eye — including the retina, optic nerve, and blood vessels — in a single shot, without the need for pupil dilation in most cases. It is good for early, wide, and convenient detection and monitoring of retinal and systemic health issues, helping eye doctors protect vision and catch disease early.

Dr Dora Szymanowicz, OD, MS
Dr. Dora Szymanowicz was born in Hungary and was raised in Orange County CA. She completed her undergraduate studies at the University of California, Irvine in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, after which she went on to optometry school in Manhattan, New York at SUNY College of Optometry. She received her doctor of optometry degree and masters in vision science in New York in 2011 and she completed her residency in Acquired Brain Injury and Primary Eye Care in 2012.
She has been with Costco since 2014, managing 3 warehouse optometry offices successfully.
